🍇Red/ purple/ black wine grapes make red wine. They do because the color of the grape skin is what gives red wine its color. The intensity of the skin color/ thickness of skin/ and the time the grape juice spent cuddled up with the grape skin before fermentation are main factors to the color of the wine. Red wine can be purple, ruby, garnet or tawny ( orange brown or yellowish brown) in color.
🍷The main and most popular grapes used in red wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Syrah ( also known as Shiraz if it’s coming from Australia).
Lighter red wines tend to have red fruits primary aromas( raspberry, strawberry, red cherry,..) while bolder red wines have primarily black fruit aromas ( blackberry, plum, blueberry).. more Common aromas include ( among many) green pepper (Cabernet Sauvignon) , earthy notes ( Pinot noir) , spices ( Syrah).
